Zip Ties Beyond Cable Management

Though Zip Ties are basically used as cable management tool but it is not limited to it. It has many other simple applications in our day to day life. Wherever you need to bundle or organize a few wire looking thing, zip ties will be the most convenient tool to conclude the job. Feature like easy and quick to fasten for any desired loop size and a strong grip make it so versatile that we need them everywhere.

These can be applied almost for any need as a quick solution which may be temporary in most of the cases. The other reason of its wide use in number of application is its good load bearing capacity with a fixed, tight grip. Temporary in the sense that till a proper arrangement is made to replace the original locking system, it can work good. In a few countries it is legal for policemen to use zip ties as temporary hand cuff for culprits.
 
Just think of the places you visit in your normal routine and I will tell you the importance of Zip Ties – kitchen, drawing room, bedroom, bathrooms, study room, garden, your emergency kit in car, during travel, camping … they are endless. It was something surprising for me when one of my female friends disclosed that she once used zip ties for tying her long hair when she could not find any replacement for her broken hair clip. This example made me laugh but still I accepted that there are so many use of this other than the technical applications I used so far. 

In kitchen we may face a cabinet door lock not working and it is unsafe to keep it open and see, nothing else will be better than zip ties till it is repaired. Now you are not worried for your pets or even kids to open the door for discovering the secret treasure here. 

If you are facing problems with any type of door latches or door handles, zip ties can be used in different ways. Sometime we need to make temporary loop hangers in our kitchen or dining area and there also zip ties can be used without any question.

When we try to fix two broken or unbroken surfaces with some adhesive material, they need some time for them to join permanently and till them that time they need to be hold together with firm grip and zip ties are the idlest choice.  When you apply adhesive, tie them firmly with the zip ties and after the set time limit, you release them as they won’t be required any more.

It is also very useful to handle or support those delicate climbers in our garden or indoor plants, nothing better than zip ties you can use to bundle them or routing them. A few smaller plants like of tomato, the delicate branches with laden tomatoes bow down to ground and can be spoiled and they usually need to be supported by something like zip ties.

In garages we make all the arrangements to place all the required things on a suitable place but still we need some temporary hanger loops for some extra tools and using zip tie will be the most convenient and fastest solution. It is also very popular for hanging poster and banner or any other type of display card during any exhibition, election rally etc. I recently gone through a news article saying that in a particular city people removed approximately 10000 of zip ties used during election for banner display in a particular city. 

Going on tracking or picnic? I tell you, zip ties must be there in you camping kit as one of the essential object and it can play an important part creating your temporary shelter. This can be used for tying almost anything in emergency as a temporary solution. In case of camping it cab used as a temporary lock to your tent when you are going out. If you are carrying your mountain bike with you on your truck, zip ties can be used to hold the wheels with their frames and providing safety from all jerks during movement.

 Reminding you that these are so strong , light weight and safe to use that Velcro zip ties are used in the space craft to hold the movable items at their place during high speed or in a condition of zero gravity otherwise they will be flying in air and may damage some sensitive equipments used. Nott only this but it will be needed to lock all of small pouches or bags or zippers which has a risk of opening with vibration and jerks.

If you are planning for a mild floral decoration for a small get together at your home, nothing to worry about arranging them in a pattern. Just use zip ties for bundling the flowers with stem   and then you can tuck it anywhere and they will keep on smiling together till your party is over.

Besides all these utilities of zip ties, it is very popular among the artist for creating some unbelievable shapes and objects. I have seen so many beautiful creations like Lamp Shade, Chandelier, Small Basket, Polar Bear and so many abstract designs also.

Rack cable Management plays an important role in every computer server room for any kind of Information Technology setup and Rack shelves are their integral part. Our dependency for day to day life depends now heavily on Information systems whether we are at home, school, college, banks, shopping malls, hospitals and what not. We can say that without IT support we can not make our life going on even for a single day. It is very easy for us to go to bank for a withdrawal or deposit of money, do the transaction on a single window and get back within minutes.

This ease has been created only after the computerization of all Banking Processes. All transportation systems, shopping system, education system have been computerized and all the activities are now server based in which a centralized computer server is used to store and process the data received by several other computers which are connected to this server through different kind of networking systems via some cable or wireless system.

So if we are taking the Computers or IT as backbone of daily operations in our life then Server Networking can be taken as the backbone for IT setup. If our server setup is not installed or maintained proper then all the computer terminals connected to it for providing the services at customer end, can be paralyzed. Computer networks can be big or small, the server part has to be taken very carefully and the complete management should be perfectly right.

Servers are also computers but a very special and delicate type of environment is required for servers. Normal computer terminals can be placed anywhere on normal tables or stands but for servers we need to have a separate room which is known as Server Room. In case any user terminal is down due to some problem then there may not be any trouble to other users of that particular network if the server is working fine. In case of server goes down there will be no use of any number of computers connected to its network. Also the server computers have to be ON for most of the time while user terminals are operative for 8 – 10 hours a day. So the computer servers has to be managed in such a way that it can be running 24 hours without any down time.

Server machines has to be kept in such an environment that sufficient ventilation is provided to them for a better temperature control as excessive heating due to continuous use may harm the performance of servers. All the wires and cables coming out from them has also to be arranged for maximum efficiency and convenience of fast troubleshooting and repairing / maintenance. Cable Tray for Cable Management

Cable Tray system is used as an alternate to conduit wiring system for cable management in industrial and commercial applications. In any big industrial or commercial site there are a large number of heavy power cables required to be routed and has to travel some good distances and in different type of environments. In normal cases we have another system known as cable conduit management where less number of cables is laid through some closed conduits while Cable Trays are used where large number of wires is to be handled with a probaiblity of frequent alterations.  These conduits can be fixed along the walls, roof and floor or can go underground also.

Cable Conduit Management is appropriate at places where the cabling requirements are almost fixed and a very few alteration is possible because once the cables and wires are laid through a pipe it is very difficult to add or remove any new. In case of any such alterations we need to open the conduit pipes and may have to disturb the decor of walls, floor or ceiling making it costly as well as time consuming task also. This is more difficult in the case of underground type where these conduits are concealed behind structure. Also this solution is made for less number of cables to be managed in a less area and with a normal environment.

When talking about the industrial sites we know that we have to handle a large number of power and communication cables spread over a very large area. Under such conditions this is also obvious that the frequency of alteration of cables and wires will be much more. Due to heavy power applications there are always chances of shutdowns and wires need to be rectified, removed or replaced at the earliest. Also looking at he different climatic condition at any such site, these cables may have to pass through an air-conditioned area or outdoor or in areas with heavy temperatures. In addition to these since the number of cables are too large the laying channel must be such to provide sufficient support to the cables.

 Looking at conduit management system's limitations we need a a special type of open laying approach for cable management and ACble Trays were the perfect solutions. Cable trays are generally available in both types - solid bottom as well as ventilated bottom and are made of galvanized or stainless steel, aluminum or reinforced plastic. Solid bottom trays have the maximum strength to support but on the same time it is a kind of rigid structure as cutting required for entry or exit of the wires.

The Ventilated Cable Tray has ventilated base or bottom through which wires and cables can be entered or taken out from any point without any alteration like cutting tray.  This ventilated structure also provides a proper air circulation and prevents from water or dust from accumulation in these trays and spoiling cables laid in it. These trays may be open from upper side or may use a solid cover for further securing them from dust, water or any other objects falling on it. For outdoor uses a peaked type cover can be used for prevention from water and snow. Cable Trays are also made of wire mesh for applications where lighter cable and wires are to be used for telecom or data cable used for computer networking.

These cable trays are available in common sizes of 4” to 12’ and can be added to find any desired shape and size. For giving bends on the same plane there are different pre made angles like T Junction, Right Angle junction or Four Way junctions with help of which any type of routing is possible. We also have choices of shapes like L, T or X shaped cable trays which can be mixed and matched for any customized needs. If a smaller section has to be taken out from main, broader, cable tray then another type of joint called reducer is used to join cable trays of 2 different sizes.

These cable trays can be installed through walls, floor or ceiling as per our requirements.  To prevent from fire or flames in any specific condition, Fire Retardant Cable Jackets are used or alternatively fire proof coating can be applied to the installed cables. Since any external coating on cable may restrict the normal heat dissipation from it in case of power transmission cable carrying high current so it should be taken care.  This open type of cable management system can be maintained very easily through normal housekeeping practices in normal conditions.
